Lady Gaga Weeps At Poland Show,'It's Trendy To Be Free'

The last time Lady Gaga gave a long address, we stomached a lengthy, bizarre, extended metaphor about meat, the military and human rights that was tangentially related to the slab of sirloin she wore to the VMAs. Over Thanksgiving, the pop star kept the food in the kitchen, tweeting a photo of a Little Monster Casserole that presumably isn't made of actual Little Monsters (Ke$ha's the pop star who actually just released a disc called "Cannibal," after all) -- but she did find a way to make a speech.

At the Friday night stop of her Monster Ball tour in Poland, Gaga had a few new talking points: Her upcoming album, "Born This Way," is great. Actually, scratch that, it's epic ("I promise to give you the greatest album this decade, just for you"). And most interestingly, she's sick of seeing freak-flag-flying as a trend in pop culture.
"The funny thing is that some people reduce freedom to a brand," Gaga said between tears. "They think that it's trendy now to be free. They think it's trendy to be excited about your identity. When in truth, there is nothing trendy about 'Born This Way.' 'Born This Way' is a spirit, and it is this connection that we all share. It is something so much deeper than a wig or a lipstick or an outfit or a [expletive] meat dress. 'Born This Way' is about us, 'Born This Way' is about what keeps us up at night and makes us afraid." Then she played the comparatively upbeat "Telephone," the Beyoncé collaboration about dancing her worries away that helped make "The Fame Monster" a multiplatinum success.

The bulk of Lady Gaga's speech sounds like a direct response to the handful of empowerment songs female pop stars have released in the past few months. Nearly all of them were performed at last week's American Music Awards: Pink's "Raise Your Glass," where she shouts out "underdogs" and "nitty gritty dirty little freaks" who can't help but be inappropriately loud; Katy Perry's "Firework," where she encourages a frustrated listener, "You're original, can't be replaced"; and Ke$ha's "We R Who We R," on which she celebrates letting go of self-consciousness and "dancing like we're dumb."

While Lady Gaga has argued loudly for gay rights -- particularly on behalf of LGBT members of the military -- since her earliest days, when she revealed she identifies as bisexual, Pink, Perry, and Ke$ha have all spoken about genuine inspirations for their songs. Perry dedicated her video to It Gets Better, an initiative to encourage bullied gay youth to hang in and keep their eye on the future (Ke$ha's song was inspired by the project, as well). Pink features a gay wedding in her track's video, like the one she's discussed throwing for her lesbian best friend.
The wig and lipstick comments in particular seem aimed at newcomer Nicki Minaj, who has embraced a gay fan base, donned an assortment of way-out-there hairpieces and launched a lipstick in collaboration with M.A.C., a company Gaga partnered with as part of their Viva Glam campaign to fight AIDS. While Minaj began her career hinting that she might be bisexual, even granting a cover interview to Out magazine in which she refused to confirm her sexual orientation, the rapper has backed away from gay issues in recent months and distanced herself from her earlier comments.

So is Lady Gaga weeping because she doubts the motives of her competitors, or she's bummed they were able to release their empowerment records before she finished recording her new masterpiece? Surely there's room for more than one pop star to be involved with one of the largest civil rights struggles of our time. And there has been -- and will continue to be -- plenty of space for songs about freedom in the rock & roll canon.

Kardashian sisters want out of debit-card deal

The Kardashian sisters are seeking to cut ties with a venture that sold prepaid debit cards under their name after coming under attack for the card's high fees. The card, which launched three weeks ago, was aimed at young adults, the same group that watches the sisters' hit cable TV show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians."

An attorney for the sisters sent a letter Monday to parties affiliated with the card asking them to immediately stop using the names and images of the three sisters.

The notice came after Connecticut Attorney General Richard Blumenthal warned on Friday that he would investigate the program to see if it violated state laws to protect consumers. He called the card's fees "predatory."

The Kardashians -- Kim, Khloe and Kourtney -- launched the card on Nov. 10, with much fanfare. The "Kardashian Kard" includes a picture of the trio on one side, and the sisters said at the time of the launch they were "excited ... to create their very own financial product."

But almost immediately the Kardashians came under attack by consumer advocates for attaching their names to a card with fees that far surpassed other prepaid debit cards on the market.

"The Kardashians have worked extremely long and hard to create a positive public persona that appeals to everyone, particularly young adults," says the letter from Dennis Roach, legal counsel of Dash Dolls LLC, which represents the three sisters. "Unfortunately, the negative spotlight turned on the Kardashians."

Just to buy the card and use it costs $59.95 for six months, or $99.95 for 12 months. That does not include any money on the card. The person buying the card must add money onto it.

The initial feels were just the start. After those six or 12 months are up, it costs $7.95 a month to keep using the card. Users have to pay $1.50 to withdraw cash from an ATM, and $1 to check their balance. Talking to a customer representative on the phone costs $1.50 for each call, and canceling the card costs $6.

Losing the card results in a charge of $9.95. If the loss is reported within two days, then losses are limited to $50. But if the loss or theft is not reported, and the issuer believes the user knew it was lost or stolen, then losses could be as high as $500, according to the terms and conditions on the Kardashian Kard website.

Those fees caught the attention of Blumenthal, who said on Friday that he was investigating the card because of the fees and its appeal to financially unsophisticated young adults.

"Keeping up with the Kardashians is impossible with this card, where consumers lose money before they use money. Even before consumers spend a dime, the Kardashian Kard fees swallow the card's value," Blumenthal said in a statement Monday after news that the Kardashians were cutting ties to the card.

In a statement late Monday, card-issuer University National Bank confirmed that it had ended the sale of the Kardashian cards. Consumers who bought the card will get their money back, including fees that they might have incurred, it said.

MasterCard, which was a partner in the card, said in a statement that "the decision to end the program affirms that consumers did not find value in this particular prepaid offering."

Representatives from Mobe Inc. and Mobile Resources Card, also affiliated with the card, did not return requests for comment.

Consumers Union, the publisher of Consumer Reports, had come out strongly in recent weeks against the Kardashians for using their celebrity status to hawk a prepaid card loaded with fees.

"Any other celebrity or business that is thinking of associating its name with a prepaid card should take a close look at the fees and protections, and say 'no thanks' unless the fees are low and the missing consumer protections are added," Gail Hillebrand, director of Consumers Union's Defend Your Dollars campaign, said after hearing Monday's news.

Consumer Union is calling on the newly authorized federal Consumer Financial Protection Bureau to make reining in abusive prepaid card practices a top priority.

U2's 'Spider-Man' Musical Spins Tangled Web of Disaster at First Preview,

After enduring high-profile production delays, major casting changes and the highest bill in Broadway history by a wide margin (most estimates put it in the $65 million range), the U2-penned musical "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" finally opened for preview performances this past weekend. And, by all accounts, the musical's inaugural show, staged at the Great White Way's Foxwoods Theater, was an even bigger disaster than critically loathed "Spider-Man 3" movie. As the New York Post so eloquently put it in today's review, "Turn Off the Dark" is "an epic flop as the $65 million show's high-tech gadgetry went completely awry amid a dull score and baffling script." Ouch.

Faced with towering critical and box office expectations due to its high cost and marquee talent, the "Turn Off the Dark" musical does have a lot going for it. It was scored by Bono and the Edge, and its jaw-dropping sets, costumes and cavalcade of infamous and original villains were imagined by Julie Taymor (of the $4.2 billion-grossing "Lion King" theatrical production).

But perhaps its biggest draw are the high-flying aerial effects that promise to wow audiences in a way that Broadway has never seen before. Taymor's crew has rigged the theater with all manner of pulleys and acrobatic high-wires in order to tell the story of Marvel Comics' teenage web-slinger. It's those ambitious aerial effects that resulted in five delays during the first preview performance, with technical difficulties often stranding the actors as they hovered above the audience for several minutes at a time.

Audience members, who paid in the vicinity of $140 to see this debut performance, were warned by the show's producer Michael Cohl before the curtain went up that the show might need to hit the brakes throughout, since it was still a work in progress (it doesn't open officially until January 11, 2011). However, no one in the audience could have anticipated just how many times the performance would screech to a halt: There were four stoppages in the first act alone, including one incident where a stunt-gone-wrong left Spider-Man star Reeve Carney hovering over the audience for several minutes while stagehands tried to reel him back in. That mishap resulted in intermission being called prematurely, and the break itself lasted over 40 minutes. (It's worth noting that Act One itself started nearly a half-hour late, but the audience's slow filing to their seats could be to blame.)

In total, the preview performance ran a "Gone With the Wind"-esque three hours and 20 minutes, which is apparently more than a modern day audience can take in one sitting. During a technical stoppage in the second act, one frustrated woman in the audience yelled, "I don't know how everyone else feels, but I feel like a guinea pig today -- I feel like it's a dress rehearsal." The heckler was promptly booed, according to the New York Times, as the audience banded together to take pity on the technical woes facing "Spider-Man" five weeks before its opening. Considering that thankfully no one was injured during the preview performance -- two "Spider-Man" actors suffered broken bones while attempting the aerials during rehearsals last month -- it seems as though the musical is progressing positively on its march toward opening night.

It's not uncommon for previews to have glitches -- actors drop lines, miss cues -- and generally audiences are forgiving of that sort of thing. But when a show promises as much visual dazzle as "Turn Off The Dark," it may have a difficult time avoiding the bad PR stemming from such a trouble-plagued first preview.

What could be most damaging from the standpoint of traditional and word-of-mouth press is the fact that technical issues seemingly overshadowed the musical's other problems, which included a convoluted plot that seemed to confuse hardcore and nascent Spidey fans alike. Even U2's score, led by the first single "Boy Falls From the Sky," didn't receive the rave reviews that greeted the band's most recent album "No Line on the Horizon."

With a price tag of $65 million plus a weekly running cost of $1 million, its estimated that "Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark" would need to sell out every performance for the better part of forever (or at least "many months," says Variety) in order to finally turn a profit. No small feat by Broadway standards.

Sanjay Dutt is villain in 'Agneepath'

Sanjay Dutt is to play the role of the villain in the remake of Agneepath, alongside Hrithik Roshan and Priyanka Chopra.

Dutt takes on the role of crime baron Karan Cheena, who was played in the original by Danny Denzonga - an actor renowned for playing villains and winner of four Filmfare Best Villain Awards.

Dutt, who has played darker roles before in Bol Radha Bol and Khoj, said that he is not generally comfortable with playing evil characters but found this particular one appealing.

"Those roles didn't work for me," he explained. "But the villain's role in Agneepath is a special challenge because I play Hrithik Roshan's role model in the remake. I am the guy Hrithik's character wants to be like."

The film, directed by Karan Malhotra and produced by Karan Johar, will reportedly begin production in early 2011.

Reports suggest that the film would be co-produced by Khan and Vishal Bhardwaj, who are in the process of attempting to get remake rights from the makers of The Departed.

Boyle 'hopes music will be remembered'

Susan Boyle has admitted that she hopes to be as successful as The Beatles.

The 'I Dreamed A Dream' singer, who earlier this month became the first female artist ever to simultaneously hold both the US and UK number one spots twice in under 12 months, told The Sun that she would like her music to be remembered in years to come.

"The Beatles are still around now, their records live on," she said. "I hope to be in the same calibre one day.

"I know I've got a lot to do yet though. I'd like to meet Paul [McCartney]. If he ever wanted to perform together, I'd have no problem with it - here I am, baby!"

Boyle confessed that meeting McCartney would be "up there" with her performance for the Pope in September.

She said: "Everybody has their own draw. Meeting the Pope was an entirely different atmosphere, it was a spiritual journey I was on.

"But spiritually, meeting Paul would be up there as well."

After being rushed to hospital on Sunday, Roshan was allowed home, but the actor said that he was worried his still-swollen face may frighten his children Hrehaan, 4, and Hridaan, 2.

"They'd get so scared if they saw me like this. Though my lips are going back to their normal size, they're still not fully normal. I don't want my sons to see me until I look like myself again," Roshan told IANS.

Speaking about the reaction, the 36-year-old said that he was shocked when he saw what he looked like and immediately checked himself into hospital.

"It was crazy! I'd have been frightened to death at what I saw in the mirror. Within minutes, my lips had swollen to ten times the normal size," he added.

Lauren Conrad's most cherished holiday tradition

Gwyneth Paltrow's favorite Christmas creation
"Besides the mulled wine, I make a really delicious fresh cranberry sauce with fresh cranberries and orange zest," Paltrow, 38, says. "It's one of those meals where it all has to come together – the turkey has to be perfectly roasted, you know what I mean, you have a little bit of everything in one bite."

Gilles Marini on an American Thanksgiving
"I really love Thanksgiving because I love being with [a] real American family that knows how to celebrate, and the love and the thanks and the kindness," the French actor, 34, says. Crystal Bowersox on the joy of cooking
"Last year before I came out to Hollywood was my first Thanksgiving that I hosted," the singer, 25, says. "[I] woke up at 7 a.m., cooked all day, had dinner at 7 p.m. I did the whole thing, did all the fixings and had family and friends over. I love to cook … and I think family has become so much more important to me now. Being in the public, you realize who your friends and family are very quickly."

Malin Akerman on her Swedish Christmas Smörgåsbord
"I'm a huge Christmas fan. It's my favorite holiday. I'm from Sweden so we do a Swedish Christmas and we celebrate on the 24th in the evening," the actress, 32, says. "We do dinner and after dinner we open gifts in the evening and it's so beautiful. But part of our traditional smörgåsbord that I love is always having ham and pickled herring and potatoes. And I've just got to say it's a really great-tasting meal. I know it sounds really gross! I'm a big foodie, so I'm happy that the Swedish sort of Christmas delicacy is fish and ham. It's really good. And the best thing about Christmas is I pig out! There's no way that I'm going to watch what I eat. I just can't. I have to let myself go."

Tommy Lee on Thanksgiving fun
"I love all [holidays], but probably Thanksgiving dinner the most – I love to cook and I love not going over to somebody else's house," the rocker, 48, says. "I love doing it at home, cooking, doing that whole celebration. I love to have everyone over, I really dig that. Usually [I cook] the main stuff. I let other people bring or make the sides."

Anna Wintour vs. Carey Mulligan,Bitch Stole My Look

The devil (aka Anna Wintour) wears Lanvin and we're guessing she doesn't like to share. But that doesn't stop Carey Mulligan from copying her look.

Vogue's editor-in-chief (and the inspiration behind The Devil Wears Prada) wore this sleeveless animal-print frock at the Michael Kors show in New York two months ago. She completed her look with metallic kitten heels and a colorful beaded necklace.

Then just last week, Hollywood's fresh-faced fashionista wore the designer dress above the knee for Google's Boutiques.com launch party, pairing the printed number with a black clutch, bib necklace and brown YSL pumps.

So who wears it best, the perfectly put-together editrix (who eats the competition for breakfast) or the fearless ingénue and her quirkier sense of style?

Coldplay ready 'risky' new album

Coldplay have revealed that they are finalising the tracklisting for their new album.

The group, who recently pushed their fifth studio LP back to 2011, said they have narrowed the list to 15 songs and confirmed a number of song titles.

"We're down to 15," Chris Martin told Q Magazine. "I'm trying to make sure there are three songs that start with the same letter. On the last album it was 'L'. It might be 'U' this time.

"One of them is 'Up With The Birds'. It might be a duet, but we don't know who with yet. The other two might change."

Martin also said the songs 'Hurts Like Heaven' and 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall' are likely to feature on the record, and many of the tracks see guitarist Jonny Buckland "coming out of his cocoon".

He explained: "'Hurts Like Heaven' is all Jonny. It only has two chords. The songs are group-y, its guitar-y. Johnny is coming out of his cocoon. We're just trying some risky things.

"We're hungry and very fired up. In five years we'll be in our late 30s. You have to have your best work done by then."

The group recently announced that they are playing two gigs this Christmas in support of a homeless charity.

Robert Webb teases 'Peep Show' romance

Peep Show star Robert Webb has revealed that his character Jeremy will begin a new romance in the upcoming seventh series.

The comedian told What's On TV that the hapless musician would be "bowled over" by love interest Zara (Camilla Beeput).

"She's a pseudo-intellectual who thinks Amélie is a very clever film," he explained. "Jeremy buys into it because, even though he doesn't have a clue what she's talking about, it sounds brilliant."

Webb explained that the affair will become complicated when Jeremy starts to work for Zara's music mogul boyfriend.

"Zara is already spoken for," he said. "Her boyfriend gives Jeremy a job, so his conflict is that he's got this terrific job that's related to music, but he's having an affair with his boss's girlfriend."

He continued: "That's what sort of loveable about [Jeremy]. He knows it's all going to go wrong, but carries on doing it anyway."

Janine doesn't scare Stacey,Turner

EastEnders star Lacey Turner has admitted that her character Stacey Branning is underestimating Janine Malloy as she embarks on an affair with the superbitch's new husband Ryan.

Stacey's secret relationship with Ryan (Neil McDermott) hots up in next week's episodes after she decides to stay in Walford rather than leave as she originally planned.

The mum-of-one's change of heart comes after Ryan tracks her down and things get steamy between the pair in an abandoned car park.

Speaking to All About Soap about the possibility of Janine finding out, Turner insisted: "Stacey's not frightened of Janine. She just sees her as a bit of a pain and obviously doesn't realise how dangerous Janine can be."

Meanwhile, asked what Stacey wants from Ryan, the actress replied: "They decided at first Ryan could have his marriage and his bit on the side, but Stacey's tired of not knowing where she stands.

"Then, while Ryan's still working things out in his head, Stacey decides she doesn't want anything too heavy so tells him their arrangement can stay as it is. She doesn't know what she wants!"

Last month, reports suggested that Janine will try to poison Ryan in an act of revenge over Stacey in a forthcoming storyline.

Accola 'enjoys Vampire Diaries stunts'

Candice Accola has revealed that she loves performing stunts on The Vampire Diaries.

Accola told the Los Angeles Times that she has had more action sequences since her character Caroline became a vampire.

"My favourite thing about playing a vampire is the stunts," she said. "It's just a new, fun thing to do. Especially as a girl, being able to be all dolled up in heels and little outfits and be able to kick boys' butts, I think it's a really fun, make-believe world to play."

However, Accola admitted that the stunts can make her role more challenging.

"That definitely ups the ante when you've got a lot of emotional things going on and then you've got to bring in the physical things that are now on top of everything," she said. "The other thing that I think is a constant challenge is kind of reminding yourself of all the little nuances of vampires and what they're susceptible to doing and becoming."

The Vampire Diaries continues on December 2 at 8/7c on The CW.

Jay-Z has one (final) word (for now) on wife Beyoncé's possible pregnancy: No."I really sit back and wonder when people are going to stop," he said on Howard Stern's radio show Monday, when asked about the rumors by the show's co-host Robin Quivers. "The day that happens, I don't think Newsday is going to know before my grandmother."

The rapper, who is notorious for keeping mum on his personal life, added, "Everyone knows I'm married, I just don't discuss it because it's a part of my life that I'd rather keep private."

Meanwhile, Jay-Z was happy to elaborate when asked about his controversial pal Kanye West. "It was bad timing, but it was absolutely an honest emotion," he said of West's statement that George W. Bush "hates black people."

Continues Jay-Z, "We all felt like that. We didn't feel like Katrina was a natural disaster. We felt like it was an attack on black people."

Beyoncé & Jay-Z's 'Lovey-Dovey' Miami Visit

With rumors swirling that Beyoncé is expecting her first child, the singer was content to play the role of supportive wife during a party in Miami Beach with hubby Jay-Z on Wednesday night.

The couple kicked back at the Delano Hotel, where Jay-Z was working with Bing to launch the DECODED search experience, an Internet scavenger hunt based on his new book. And though it was Beyoncé making headlines, she left the spotlight all to her husband.

As the rapper gave interviews, Beyoncé slipped away into a poolside bungalow, where she ordered snapper, salad and sparkling water from the hotel's Blue Door Fish.

"She was wearing a skintight dress that left nothing to the imagination," an onlooker tells PEOPLE. "There were no remote physical signs that she was pregnant."

It wasn't until later that she emerged, smiling, to hear Jay-Z give a speech.

"She almost went unnoticed. She really made it a point not to be in the spotlight, that it was his night," says the onlooker. "At one point, she actually introduced herself to a Jay-Z fan, who was shocked that she was standing there."

Later in the evening, the couple retreated to a bungalow together. "They were adorable," says the onlooker. "She was sitting on his leg and they were watching TV. They were lovey-dovey."

On Thursday's Ellen DeGeneres Show, Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, denied that her daughter is expecting – yet.

Beyoncé Knowles Mom Denies Pregnancy Rumor

Tina Knowles wants to set the record straight: Daughter Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z are not expecting a baby – at least, not yet.

"I'm here to clear the rumors up. The truth is that it's not Beyoncé that's pregnant. It's me," Knowles says with a smile in an interview airing Thursday on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.Really? "I'm kidding y'all. I'm 56. No, no, it's not true [about Beyoncé]. Not right now."

Tina has learned not to pay much attention all the speculation about whether her pop-star daughter, 29, is pregnant. "With all the rumors, by now I should have five or six grandchildren," she says. But when it does happen, she'll be thrilled. "I'm looking forward to it," she says.

Meanwhile, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, who have been married two years, were spotted in Miami Wednesday night. The singer was reportedly looking svelte as ever.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z Will Be Great Parents, Says Tina Knowles,

She may have shot down pregnancy rumors last month but that doesn't mean Beyoncé's mother, Tina Knowles, isn't ready for her superstar daughter to join her sister Solange and give her a grandchild.

"Of course I am [ready for her to have a baby]," she told PEOPLE at the launch event for the Lorraine Schwartz "2BHAPPY" Jewelry Collection at LAVO in New York this week. "What grandmother isn't? I can't wait."And, Knowles adds, her daughter and husband Jay-Z have what it takes to be "great parents."

"They're good people and they're really positive and they're talented and they've had a lot of practice with my grandson – their nephew," she says. "So I know they're going to make great parents."

Her daughter, especially, is "very caring and patient and loving," Tina says, "so I know she'll be a great mom."

Whenever Beyoncé and Jay-Z are ready to welcome their first child, they can always turn to Tina for parenting advice. As for raising her two daughters, she always tried "not [to] put pressure on them to be what you want them to be."

And while her daughter has found massive success, there's one thing she hasn't quite conquered yet."Cooking is the one thing she hasn't gotten into," says Knowles. "She hasn't mastered [it], but I'm sure she'll be a good cook once she makes up her mind."

How the power couple will be spending Thanksgiving?

"They're actually out of the country, so it's going to be different, but it'll be good," Knowles says. "They're getting their own tradition – so we have to let go."

Dancing is done and now it's time to celebrate for winner Jennifer Grey, her partner Derek Hough and runners-up Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer.

Barely able to contain themselves, Grey and Hough spoke to PEOPLE after their victory was announced."This has been the craziest season ever on so many different levels and for so many different reasons and to be able to walk away with the trophy – it's unbelievable," Hough said."And it's fantastic!" screamed Grey, whose back was injured Monday night. "[I'm] completely surprised and completely thrilled – really happy. It was a really, really sweet and precious thing that happened in my life that I got to go on this journey."

Meanwhile, for Massey and Schwimmer, second feels a lot like first. "We got second place so that's pretty darn cool," Schwimmer said. "To have it under Jennifer and Derek is just awesome for us. We never thought we'd get to the finals."

Massey was equally thrilled with his unexpected success. "It was a blast, an unforgettable experience," he said. "You can't top an experience like this ... Hey man, second place is awesome."

Kat Von D's House Burns Down with Her Cat Inside

It's never easy to say a final goodbye to a pet, but it must have been especially difficult for Kat Von D this past weekend after her cat, Valentine, perished in a fire that destroyed the tattoo artist’s Los Angeles home.

"R.I.P. My little Valentine," Von D Tweeted, along with a photo of her hairless cat taken before the tragedy. The message was met with an outpouring of support from followers.Von D broke the news of the heartbreaking fire early Monday morning, telling the Twitter world, "My house burned down last night with my cat inside."

She later posted a photo of herself standing amongst the charred remains of the house, writing, "In order to gain everything, you must lose everything."Here's wishing Von D – who is in Canada to promote her second book, The Tattoo Chronicles – the best in her time of need.

Kourtney Kardashian's Son Hospitalized with Peanut Allergy

Kourtney Kardashian's 11-month-old son Mason was rushed to the hospital after having an allergic reaction to peanut butter – but, says his mom, he's now "doing fine."
"Friday night Mason ate some peanut butter and had a little allergic reaction to it," Kardashian, 31, wrote on her blog. "He threw up within minutes of tasting it and got hives on his face. I called 911 and the fire department came immediately."

The responders advised the new mom not to take any risks.
"They suggested that we take him to the hospital, so we did," she wrote. "He was in good spirits the whole time and didn't even know anything was wrong. He even enjoyed riding in the ambulance. He's such a good boy!!"And, says the reality star, she now knows that a mother's instincts are often right."I learned such a lesson with this … to always follow my instincts and call 911. Always better safe than sorry."

Jessica Simpson's Engagement Ring Was Hidden in a Shoe

Jessica Simpson's fiancé went to great lengths to hide her three-stone ruby engagement ring."He had the ring in his shoe at my house somewhere," Jessica Simpson said on SIRIUS XM's The Morning Mash Up in an interview airing Dec. 2. "I was like: Why hide it in a shoe? But it worked. I had no idea."

Almost as surprising as Eric Johnson's Nov. 11 proposal was that Simpson's family didn't spill the beans."He had talked to my mom and dad and my sister three weeks before he asked me," she says. "I can't believe all the Simpsons kept a secret."

The singer was in the middle of watching Parenthood when Johnson, 31, asked her to pause the show so he could pop the question."He got down on his knee and I had to sit down on it because I was so shocked," said Simpson, 31. "I was … short of breath. It was definitely one of those moments where I've never felt that way before, ever."

Simpson, who has a new holiday album Happy Christmas coming out, is looking forward to getting back into the studio to make another pop record, but admits that "music is definitely my number two priority next to love."

Dancing With the Stars, Bristol Palin happy with her third-place

Bristol Palin: Prayer Helped Me Through Dancing Controversy

Bristol Palin is happy with her third-place finish on Dancing with the Stars. But it hasn't been easy for the Alaska native, 20, who finished season 11 behind Kyle Massey and winner Jennifer Grey. Palin's run in the ballroom competition was plagued with controversy because, despite consistently lower scores from the judges, fans voted her through week after week. There was even a frightening moment when a threatening package arrived at the CBS studios where the show is broadcast.

"It is faith that got me through this and just praying all the time and just relying on God and knowing that He is on our side and we'll get through this," Palin told PEOPLE after Monday's finale.Palin says she learned a lot from the experience – and not just about dancing. "Just persevere, have confidence in whatever you do and be willing to go try new things," she said. "I've grown so much as a person."But now that the competition is over, it's time to celebrate. Said her partner Mark Ballas: "We're getting on the private jet with the rest of the couples and we're going to have a party."

Why I Like Living Alone:Taylor Swift

Taylor Swift is enjoying the newfound freedom of living on her own."Living alone you can do so many fantastic things," Swift says on Chelsea Lately, airing Wednesday on E!. "You can walk around and have conversations with yourself and like, sing your thoughts. … I think I'm the only one who does that."

Swift, 20, tells host Chelsea Handler that it'll probably never get wilder than that. "I have the deeply engrained fear of getting into trouble and being sent the principal's office of life," the singer says. And don't expect Swift to become a fixture at the bar scene once she turns 21 next month, though she does see some perks coming her way."I get to go to the concerts now that my friends [used to] leave me at home for," she said.

Neil Patrick Harris Says Gideon Is a ‘Great Burper’

Now more than ever, fatherhood has allowed Neil Patrick Harris to appreciate the little things in life.“Gideon [Scott], our son, he’s a great burper,” the proud papa joked on a Monday appearance on The Talk.“Which, let me tell you those who don’t have babies, they can burp. It’s the greatest thing, I’ve never been happier.”And while 6-week-old Gideon “sleeps all the time,” it hasn’t been quite as smooth sailing for his “fussier” twin sister Harper Grace.

“She’s had some sort of lower G.I. [issue] … she’s always working through something,” Harris, 37, laments. “It feels awful though, all you want as a parent is to make sure they’re okay and that they’re comfortable.”Although Harris and his partner David Burtka “switched from one formula to a hypoallergenic formula,” they eventually took their baby girl to an osteopath.

“It was fantastic … I didn’t even know what was going on,” Harris recalls. “She sort of snapped and was a different person. Super calm. Everything is much better.”Taking fatherhood in stride, the How I Met Your Mother star notes that he and Burtka have had a change of heart when it comes to keeping their newborns snug.

Prince William & Kate Middleton Will Invite Some Members of Public to Wedding

Prince William and Kate Middleton are eager to have ordinary people attend their royal wedding in April, though palace sources tell PEOPLE that reports of a golden-ticket style public lottery are not true.

The commoners who will receive the coveted invitations are likely to come from the charities that the prince and his bride are close to, sources tell PEOPLE, while denying a report in The Sun on Wednesday of a Willy Wonka-style lottery.

It's not clear exactly who will be invited, but palace staff are expected to use the 1997 funeral of William's mother Princess Diana, which was attended by many charity workers, as a model.

That means campaigners for causes like homelessness, children's welfare and cancer awareness – from groups like Centrepoint and Starlight – could be invited to William and Kate's nuptials. "They are areas that the couple would like us to explore, but it is too early to be specific," a palace source tells PEOPLE.

The involvement of people outside their immediate family and friends in the Westminster Abbey service marks a desire by the couple to inspire a national day of celebration. There is even talk of a pop concert and big screens being erected for people to watch the event in open spaces.William's private secretary said Tuesday, "Prince William and Catherine have made it very clear that they wish everybody to be able to enjoy the day with them."

In other news, Kate will be keeping her dress secret from her fiancé (and the rest of the world) untilthe big day, but there is speculation that her choice of designer will be announced soon.

Russell Brand Gets Driving Lessons in L.A.

With his big wedding out of the way, Russell Brand is now focused on another major milestone: getting his driver's license! It's a natural step, since the British comedian and new bride Katy Perry are embracing Los Angeles as their main home. "While Russell in the past has been chauffeured around Los Angeles by Katy, he now wants to be an independent husband by getting his driver's license," a source tells PEOPLE.

Brand, 35, has been spotted zipping around town in style in celebrity-popular hybrid cars.Adds the source: "Russell's goal is to be able to drive around town by himself very soon. He has been taking daily driving lessons and is very focused on getting his license as quickly as possible. He seems very excited about driving."

Brand is not only learning the rules of the road – he's also improvising good deeds along the way.

"A homeless man was begging for money by a stop light and as soon as Russell saw the man, he reached for his wallet and gave the man a $20 bill," says an eyewitness. "Russell seemed very pleased that he was able to help the man and he even jokingly told the man to wait in the same spot the next day.

Who Won Dancing with the Stars?

With a season full of surprises and shocking eliminations, it's no mystery that Tuesday's finale of Dancing with the Stars was a nail-biter, right down to the last remaining minutes of the telecast.

As consistently low-scoring Bristol Palin advanced ahead of stronger dancers like Audrina Patridge and Brandy, fans and the media argued about whether Dancing had lost its credibility.

Palin held her own on Monday night's performance show against the season's most dynamic performer, actress Jennifer Grey, and charismatic actor Kyle Massey. Still, Palin received the lowest scores.

Did Palin's fans vote in droves to ensure she takes the Season 11 mirror-ball trophy home to Alaska? Or did America truly vote for the best dancer – which, depending on whom you ask, is either Grey or Massey?

It's Grey!
The audience cheered and the actress broke into tears as her professional partner, Derek Hough, jumped up and and down. This is the third win for Hough, who also had victories with Nicole Scherzinger and Brooke Burke.

Grey, 50, endured health problems throughout the competition and on Tuesday night danced through pain from a slipped disc.

Massey, 19, came in second place, and Palin's amazing run ended. The 20-year-old daughter of Sarah Palin had a third-place finish.

John Travolta and Kelly Preston Welcome a Son

John Travolta and wife Kelly Preston are parents to son Benjamin, who was born Tuesday in a Florida hospital.

The baby weighed 8 lbs., 3 oz.

"John, Kelly and their daughter Ella Bleu are ecstatic and very happy about the newest member of the family," they say in a statement. "Both mother and baby are healthy and doing beautifully."

Preston, 48, told PEOPLE recently that the entire family was in major preparation mode for their new addition as her pregnancy neared its end.

Jennifer Grey Speaks About 'Unbelievable' Dancing Victory.......

With less than 10 minutes remaining in Tuesday's live finale of Dancing with the Stars, millions of fans must have breathed a collective sigh upon learning that season 11's controversial finalist Bristol Palin had come in third place.

After weeks of tumult about Palin's staying power thanks to an active voting fan base, in the end it was not enough and actress Jennifer Grey and partner Derek Hough were crowned the champs.

"I didn't even think about winning when I first started. This is so unbelievable," said Grey, 50, who has had four neck surgeries and battled cancer. "I feel so grateful, so blessed, that I had this opportunity to spend three months learning to dance and getting paid for it. I don't know that there's any experience that will ever be anything like this again."

Meanwhile, this win is Hough's third on the show, following last season's victory with Nicole Scherzinger and season 7's with Brooke Burke.Last-Minute Injury With Hough's help, Grey slowly made her way around the ballroom after the show to talk to press. Following Monday night's performances, during which she earned two perfect scores, Grey ruptured a disc in her lower back. In between performances on Tuesday's finale, Grey was visibly in pain. An ice pack was strategically tucked into her fringe dancing pants as she conducted post-victory interviews.

Grey credited her husband, actor Clark Gregg, and their 8-year-old daughter, Stella, for their undying support of what she calls her ballroom dancing "immersion course."
"I've done nothing but sleep and take care of my injuries. They have been so amazing," says Grey. "My husband has been taking care of everything and my daughter has become so much more self-sufficient. It's been great for everyone. I found out my husband can cook!"
And In Second Place...
Runners-up Kyle Massey and Lacey Schwimmer gave Grey and Hough a solid run for the mirror ball trophy."We didn't think we'd make it past the first week, so to make it to the finals and to place second behind Jennifer and Derek, who got perfect scores, means we were pretty close to perfection," Massey said after the show. And many in the ballroom thought the final standings were perfection.
"Jennifer deserved to win," says pro dancer Kym Johnson. "America got it right."

Johnson's partner David Hasselhoff, who was the first contestant eliminated this season, agreed. "I'm glad they got it right because everybody was getting scared there for a minute," he quipped. So where does Dancing go from here? How does the show, which garnered its highest ratings since season 5, top itself?"Oprah needs to be on the show," says Schwimmer. "And she needs to have a female partner – and I'll be her partner. That's how we top this."

Donates $1 Million,Leonardo DiCaprio Finally Makes It to Russia,

Leonardo DiCaprio was able to make his $1 million donation for tiger conservation Tuesday after being delayed by an air crisis.

"En route to attend the Tiger Summit in St. Petersburg, Leonardo DiCaprio was one of the passengers aboard Delta Flight 30," a spokesman for the actor said. "He wishes to commend the actions of the pilot and flight crew in bringing the plane to a safe landing."

The flight was forced to make an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York after blowing an engine and dumping fuel.

When the crisis in the air was over, "Leo signed a bunch of autographs for the crew and the passengers," a source tells PEOPLE. "Everyone is fine."

DiCaprio, 36, is joining heads of government from the 13 tiger range countries in St. Petersburg, Russia, for a first-ever summit to save tigers. Hosted by Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, the summit's aim is to save tigers from extinction. DiCaprio's $1 million donation to the World Wildlife Fund will aid urgent tiger conservation efforts.

"He is doing great," a DiCaprio source says. "Happy to make it to St. Petersburg safe … admittedly a little late."

'No Babies Yet' for Her and Eric Johnson,Jessica Simpson

"We just really haven't talked much about it," she says. "We've really just been happy being engaged, so I don't even know what kind of wedding I'll have. We [have] both been married before, so you never know what can happen."

Rossum, who says she's single, split from her then-husband Justin Siegel in August 2009.

MIA on “Fair Game”,Sean Penn to Accept Lifetime Achievement Award at Dubai Film Fest,

These days Sean Penn the humanitarian aid activist is trumping Sean Penn the actor. While he’s showing up to accept the Dubai International Film Festival’s Lifetime Achievement Award on December 12, recognizing his work as an actor, director, producer, screenwriter—and activist—he is not on the promo circuit for Fair Game, even though his reviews are stellar. (He may realize that as strong as the film is, it’s not an Oscar contender.)

Why is Penn MIA? Well, for one thing he’s invested in his work in support of the needy in Iran, Iraq, New Orleans and Haiti; last January he founded the J/P Haitian Relief Organization, which offers medical aid, protection and re-location and runs the largest internally displaced-persons camp in Port-au-Prince. The other reason that Penn is not pushing Doug Liman’s Valerie Plame/Joe Wilson biopic—which is a portrait of a marriage under duress as well as a window into the Bush administration and the CIA—is that the equally prickly Liman and Penn did not get along during the filming. That’s why Penn’s co-star Naomi Watts has shouldered the press burden, along with Plame and Wilson, the producers Janet and Jerry Zucker, and director Liman—who isn’t going to sell many tickets. (Here’s The Playlist interview.)

Dubai festival chairman Abdulhamid Juma describes Penn as “one of the finest talents of our generation” whose “tireless work on behalf of the people of the world from Haiti to the United States to Iraq and Iran, and his use of the celebrity spotlight to assist humanity, is an example to us all.” As part of the Penn tribute, both Into the Wild and Sweet and Lowdown will screen and Penn will participate in a pubic Q&A session at the Madinat Jumeirah. Where’s Fair Game?

Verbinski Re-Teaming with Depp on 'Lone Ranger'

Gore Verbinski will direct Disney's "The Lone Ranger," TheWrap has confirmed Having done the near-impossible by making a pirate film people actually went to see, Verbinski will turn his attention to a different box office-challenged genre. The western.

"Lone Ranger" will reunite the director with his "Pirates of the Caribbean" team. Johnny Depp will star as Tonto and Jerry Bruckheimer will produce. No word yet on who will don the Ranger's mask and six shooters.

Depp and Verbinski also teamed up on the upcoming animated film "Rango." After directing the previous three "Pirates" films, Verbinski ceded directing duties for "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides" to "Nine" director Rob Marshall.Disney did not say say when filming would start or when the film would be released. Deadline first reported news that Verbinski had been signed.

Taylor Momsen "Isn't Going Anywhere",Gossip Girl

Taylor Momsen has been largely MIA this season on Gossip Girl. So she has to be on her way out, right? After all, how long can the CW support this girl's massive eyeliner addiction? And of course, there are those ever-growing rumors of diva-ish behavior. (We even heard it from Tim Gunn!)

So this may surprise you, but according to multiple sources connected to the series:
Taylor "isn't going anywhere" and the behavior issues are "nothing new."

Like the other original Gossip castmembers, Taylor is contracted through season seven, and I'm told she'll remain a part of the series moving forward. We just won't see her in every episode.

Sources confirm what my frenemy Michael Ausiello first reported over at Deadline, that Taylor's character Jenny won't be seen for at least four consecutive episodes, starting with the Dec. 6 midseason finale.

Insiders tell me Taylor's absence (she's only appeared in three episodes so far this season) has been largely a creative decision—one that both the Gossip Girl higher-ups and Taylor seem satisfied with. "Jenny isn't in college like everyone else, so it's hard to weave her into the central storylines," says one source. "We don't want to just bring her in to hang out at the breakfast table with Lily and Rufus and say a line or two—we want a reason to have her there."

And I'm told Taylor is happy to have the time off to work on her music career—instead of hanging around all day on set for that line or two.

As for the diva rumors, sources tell me Taylor's behavior is nothing new—she's been, um, standing up for what she believes is right since season one. And yet it doesn't appear to have affected her relationships with fellow castmembers or the show's higher-ups. "Everyone likes her," says one source. "Her absence really is driven by the story. Anything else is speculative."

Jennifer Jason Leigh Files for Divorce

Just seven months after the birth of their son, Jennifer Jason Leigh is seeking to end her five-year marriage to director Noah Baumbach.Leigh, 48, whose real name is Jennifer Morrow, filed for divorce on Nov. 15 in Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences.
She's seeking spousal support as well as primary custody of their son, Rohmer, with visitation for Baumbach. The couple met while Leigh was starring on Broadway as Catherine in Proof, a role she took on in 2001."I expect to be with [Leigh] for the rest of my life," Baumbach told PEOPLE at the premiere for his film The Squid and the Whale, just days after they were married in 2005.The pair most recently co-wrote the 2010 film Greenberg starring Ben Stiller.

Shot Two Versions of Film in Different Languages,Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie is filming her directorial debut, a controversial love story between a Muslim woman and a Serbian man, in two different languages: English and the Eastern European dialect many of her actors speak.

"We actually shot a full version in their native language and we shot a full version in English. We shot two complete films," Jolie tells local outlet Vasarnapi Hirek (as translated by IndieWire). "I was only able to do it because the actors were so fluent in English so they were willing to work hard and do the scenes in two languages."

Theaters will have the option to choose the version they want to play depending on the region.

Jolie is also considering converting the film to black and white.

"It’s shot in color but it could transfer to black and white. We haven't decided that…. We put a series of pictures together in black and white and it was beautiful," says Jolie.

The one thing Jolie is focused on: "The important thing is I want to make sure that we make a film for people who just want to go to the movies to watch a love story. To not be put off by anything that seems too heavy. So we want to walk that fine line to make it accessible to everybody because it’s important for as many people to see it."
